How 460 cows are fed with 2 feedstar feeding systems
Presentation of the Zölch farm in the Oberpfalz region
In 2017, the Zölch farm near Plössberg in the Oberpfalz region decided to build a new barn for 460 cows of which 200 are young cattle. The barn is equipped with 4 automated milking systems and 2 feedstar feeding systems, each 1 metre wide and 84 metres long. Approximately 58 kg of TMR (total mixed ration) is fed per cow per day, consisting mainly of grass silage and corn silage. Due to the high water content of the TMR, very high feed weights are produced.

We have customised the farm's feed winches to the requirements of the farm, which means that feed quantities of up to 12 tonnes per day can be processed without any problems. The winch installed is an SF99 with an output of 11 kW, which pulls in up to 6 tonnes of feed per day. The installation of the winch is very simple and can be installed by the farmer in around 3 hours.
Thanks to the 90 cm high concrete walls, the feed remains in the barn, so there is no need to push the feed in.
When used with a forward-mounted neck bar, feed belt widths of 1 metre are no problem. They allow the cows to eat across the entire width of the belt. The forage is fed outside the barn and the residual feed is pushed directly into a pit through our residual feed flap.
As the belt length increases, the speed of the feed winch increases and the belt can be switched off precisely thanks to a limit switch on the roll-back device.
